Meta Tag: Keywords and description
It’s important to have meta tags for both your description and keywords. I figure it’d be like trying to scuba dive without a tank. Not really going to get that far.
However, it’s probably just as important to make sure the keywords and description reflect the content of each individual page. Of course, you hit up your main keywords and all that on your front page, as that’s what’s going to be indexed first. But it might actually count against you if you just copy and paste the same description tag for every single page.
It takes a little bit of time – but going into each page and making sure they’re just right can be well worth it.
Get a sitemap, people!
Seriously – why don’t you have a sitemap? It’s one of the easiest ways to tell google where ALL your pages are. Look, just go to http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ – put in your website. Download the generated .xml file. Upload. Yer done.
Now make a google webmaster account and slap that bad boy in for your sitemap. Easy as pie.
Use alt tags people!
alt=”keyword title” – That’s it! That’s all you need to do!
I’ve seen google pick up a keyword because we had our keyword in the alt tag of the spacer. The SPACER.
So, really – don’t ignore your alt tags, people – they need love too.
